Charity Funding Readiness Assessment

Strong funding applications begin with the right foundations. We have designed this assessment as a learning resource to help nonprofit organisations explore their funding readiness. As you answer the questions, we provide prompts and practical suggestions to help you consider different areas, including governance, financial sustainability, evidence of need, lived experience, impact and funder alignment.

If you find this helpful, you can go on to complete our full assessment. This will offer a more detailed review, practical recommendations and a downloadable report.

The initial Snapshot includes links to published funder guidance and requirements. These real-life examples help illustrate the standards, information and supporting evidence that funders may expect. They are examples for learning, not a complete checklist or requirements that apply to every funder or funding programme.

Designed for UK and international nonprofits. Guidance on legal, accounting and funder requirements depends on your country and circumstances.

Stage 1

Your Funding Readiness Snapshot

Use the expandable guidance to decide which rating best reflects what is actively in place and supported by evidence. Each snapshot question features a different named funder, an extract of the relevant published guidance and a source link. Examples are specific to each funder and are not universal requirements.

Next steps: Maintaining your funding readiness

Your results identify areas where clearer procedures or connected systems could help maintain funding readiness. The suggestions below are practical options for streamlining routine work, not funder requirements and not part of your readiness score. SHS can help plan and implement appropriate processes and automation.

Important limitations

All results depend solely on information entered by the visitor and have not been verified by Sky High Solutioning. They do not establish compliance with any law, accounting framework, regulator or funder criteria, and do not predict grant success. They are general guidance, not professional assurance. SHS excludes liability for reliance on this self-assessment to the extent permitted by applicable law.

For UK organisations, SORP applicability and reporting obligations depend on jurisdiction, legal form, accounting basis and accounting period. International organisations must confirm their local requirements.
